The history of Warwick Chemicals

Founded in 1958 as a small operation selling textile auxiliaries, Warwick has grown over the years to become a major supplier to the world detergent industry.

To date, Warwick Chemicals has delivered over 1 million tonnes of products worldwide.

  • 1958

    Warwick Chemical Yorkshire Limited formed to manufacture textile auxiliaries

  • 1969

    100% owned by Sun Chemical Corporation

  • 1979

    Acquisition of Mostyn Site, an old Iron Works

  • 1985

    Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher visits to mark the construction of a new £1million technical centre

  • 1986

    Sun Chemical merges with Chromalloy America Corp. to form Sequa Corporation and sells its graphic arts business to Dainippon Ink.

  • 1988

    Queen's Award for Export Achievement

  • 1989

    Acquisition of Chimilux, Paris

  • 1991

    Acquisition of Alberto Benbassat S.A., Barcelona
    ISO 9002 (BS5750 : Part 2) accreditation, now ISO 9001:2000

  • 1992

    Queen's Award for Export Achievement

  • 1994

    HRH the Duke of Kent visits Mostyn
    Acquisition of Products Quimicos S.A. of Oporto

  • 1998

    Acquisition of Massimiliano Massa SpA of Milan

  • 1999

    Mostyn achieves ISO 14001 accreditation

  • 2000

    Acquisition of Adriss, Paris
    Mostyn receives the DTI's "Commitment to Innovation Award"

  • 2004

    Acquisition of Equest Market Research Limit
    DTI - Commitment to Innovation - Achiever Status

  • 2008

    MBO backed by Close Brothers Private Equity Limited

  • 2010

    Warwick's distribution business demerged from Warwick
    Warwick International renamed Warwick Chemicals

  • 2014

    Warwick acquired by Lubrizol and becomes part of Lubrizol Advanced Materials

  • 2016

    Mostyn becomes the Centre of Excellence for Lubrizol Global Fabric Care R&D

  • 2017

    Warwick is integrated into Lubrizol Home Care and Warwick Managing Director, Steve Williams, is made Global Business Director Home Care
